The BRIC (B- and Radiation-tolerant Intermediate Converter) is a new EASY-family power solution specifically developed to operate in the extreme conditions of High-Luminosity LHC experiments. Designed to power DC-DC converter stages directly in hostile areas, the system combines radiation and magnetic-field tolerance with high current capability, remote monitoring, and seamless integration into CAEN SYx527 infrastructures.

The EASY BRIC system is based on water-cooled remote crates that host up to four BRIC modules, each providing eight positive 10–12 V / 16 A channels. Channels are locally set via trimmers and remotely monitored and controlled through the A1660 Branch Controller, installed in a SYx527 mainframe in a safe area. One A1660 can manage up to two BRIC crates (up to 64 channels), presenting them to the system as standard SYx527 channels. Communication is handled via a robust RS-485 link, enabling remote ON/OFF control, voltage and current monitoring, and interlock handling.

Powered by a 270–300 VDC input to minimize cable losses over long distances, the BRIC system is engineered for high reliability in harsh environments. It has been extensively tested for radiation tolerance (up to 200 Gy total dose), displacement damage, and magnetic fields up to 0.5 T. Full compatibility with CAEN control software and libraries (GECO2020, EPICS, OPC, etc.) ensures straightforward integration into complex detector power architectures.
