EPICS (Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System) support within CAEN platforms enables seamless integration of power supplies and control electronics into distributed soft real-time control architectures widely used in large-scale physics experiments and industrial facilities. Through the EPICS Channel Access protocol, CAEN systems expose hardware parameters and status information as Process Variables (PVs), allowing remote configuration, monitoring and automation via standard EPICS client applications over TCP/IP networks.
EPICS services are embedded in selected CAEN power supply systems and controllers, providing native compatibility with accelerator, telescope and detector control infrastructures. This integration ensures reliable remote operation, scalable system supervision and straightforward inclusion of CAEN hardware into existing EPICS-based control environments.
