Photo of Piggy Back Boards

The Piggy Back Boards family extends the I/O capabilities of the CAEN programmable logic platforms V2495/V1495 and DT5495, enabling the creation of highly customized digital processing and trigger systems.

Each base module features three expansion slots directly interfaced with the user FPGA, allowing up to three independent piggyback boards to be installed simultaneously. This modular architecture provides flexible adaptation of input/output standards and channel density to match the specific requirements of complex experimental setups.

By selecting among several dedicated expansion boards for differential, logic-level, or analog signals, the system can scale to a very high number of channels while maintaining deterministic timing and tight FPGA integration. With full expansion, the platform can reach up to 194 configurable I/O channels, making it suitable for advanced trigger logic, data acquisition control, and real-time digital processing applications.
