Reliability, Modularity, Compatibility, Connectivity and User-Friendly: These are the concepts upon which the CAEN SYx527 and SYx527LC Mainframe Systems were developed. Our mainframe systems are specifically designed to provide ideal V/I output and monitoring for any detector technology employed in Modern Physics. Whether you are using SiPM or RCP, Wire Chambers or PMT, HPGe or GEM, our mainframes systems have you covered.The flexible and modular nature of the SYx527 and SY527LC has resulted in a Mainframe System which can be customized for a very wide range of experimental situations, from the smallest test-bench to the largest international experiment.The line consists of four different mainframe versions:

  • The SY4527 is a 19” wide/8U high mainframe which can house up to 16 HV/LV boards and provide up to 4200W power output.
  • The SY5527 is a 19” wide/4U high mainframe which can house up to 6 boards and provide up to 1800W power output.
  • The SY4527LC is a 19” wide/8U high mainframe which can house up to 10 boards and provide up to 600W power output. (~20 cm shorter than the standard version).
  • The SY5527LC is a 19” wide/4U high mainframe which can house up to 4 boards and provide up to 400W power output. (~20 cm shorter than the standard version).
  • Modular and scalable architecture for easy expansion, upgrades, and maintenance.

  • Full backward compatibility with existing SY1527/SY2527 boards and systems.

  • Local and remote control via Ethernet (optional Wi-Fi) with GECO2020 software and EPICS/OPC integration.

  • Advanced protection and monitoring with trip handling, interlocks, and accurate channel control.

  • Compact LC versions with integrated power supply, reduced depth, and full HV/LV board compatibility.

Software

A complete set of Software Tools is available (free download) to control CAEN Universal Multichannel Power Supply Systems, from low level libraries to graphical application software:

CAEN, in collaboration with CERN, has developed an OPC server which allows control of its power supply systems by any OPC compliant client application.
HiVoCS HiVoCS is a Web Interface available on any SY4527-SY5527 CPU. This Interface can be accessed directly via browser without installing any additional software.
EPICS IOC Mainframes CPUs integrates an EPICS Input / Output Controller (IOC) that provides access to the Process Variables using the Channel Access Protocol.
CAEN HV Wrapper Library It is a set of ANSI C functions bundled in a library, providing the software developer an unified software interface for the control of all the CAEN Power Supply products
GECO2020 CAEN General Control SW for High Voltage Boards and Systems. it can manage and control CAEN HV power supplies in any form factor as if they were an unique device.
