This family of High Voltage Power Supply boards includes single and double width modules housing up to 8 output channels, designed to provide voltage up to 15 kV and current up to 1 mA.
All boards are compatible with all CAEN Universal Multichannel Power Supply Systems. Depending on the model, three grounding options are available: Common Floating Return (Axxxx), Common Ground (AGxxxx), and Individual Floating Channel (A1592). Common Floating Return allows on-detector grounding, reducing the noise level; the floating return is insulated from the crate earth up to ±50 V (with a 65 V hardware limit). The Individual Floating Channel configuration, featured on the A1592, provides fully independent returns for each channel, insulated from each other and from the chassis ground up to ±50 V, offering the highest level of channel-to-channel noise isolation. All boards in this family feature CPE HV output connectors; the relevant coaxial cable connector (Mod. A997) is also available.
The HV ramp-up and ramp-down rates may be selected independently for each channel in the 1 ÷ 500 V/s range (1 V/s step).
All boards include both current and voltage protections. If overcurrent occurs, the relevant channel can be programmed either to turn off after a programmable trip time, or to remain on and provide the maximum allowed current, effectively operating as a current generator. Channels may be enabled or disabled via the Interlock logic, and the maximum output voltage can be fixed via a front panel potentiometer at a common value for all channels, readable via software.

A1592 is a single width board housing 8 High Voltage individual floating channels equipped with CPE HV coaxial connectors. The channels feature independent returns, insulated between each other up to ±50V. The board is available with positive or negative polarity and is non-reversible. The output voltage range is 0 ÷ 9 kV (200 µA maximum output current) with 200 mV monitor resolution.
These models are double width (10 TE wide) boards that houses 6 independent high voltage channels, available with either positive, negative or mixed polarity (A1523 only). The output voltage can be programmed and monitored in the 0 ÷ 12 kV range with 1 V resolution. The maximum currents are:
A global enable/disable connector allows to disable the channels when it is not terminated on 50 Ω.
The CAEN A1526 is a double width board (10 TE wide) specifically designed for the single gap RPC detector. Available for positive and negative polarity, it features 6 independently controllable HV channel equipped with CPE connectors. The output voltage can be programmed and monitored in the 0 ÷ 15 kV range with 1 V resolution. The current full scale can be fixed via internal jumpers either at 100 μA or at 1 mA.
A global enable/disable connector allows to disable the channels when it is not terminated on 50 Ω.
Modularity, Compatibility, Connectivity, Usability and Solidity are the keywords of the system design. The Mainframes have been specifically designed to power all detector technologies found in modern Physics Experiments, such as photomultipliers, wire chambers, streamers tubes, silicon detectors and others.
The systems are modular, flexible and match not only the requirements of major experiments with large number of channels but also the practical needs of test laboratories, where simple manual operations on a limited number of channels are often desired.
